Medenica: I will not allow myself to be designated as a barrier to democratic processes

After all the results that judicial power has achieved so far, I will not allow myself to be designated as a barrier to democratic processes in Montenegro, said president of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, Ms Vesna Medenica, at today’s meeting with the head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Ms Oana-Cristina Popa.

In the context of the recently published report of the European commission, Ms Medenica pointed out that she “performed her function conscientiously, independently, impartially, fairly and responsibly, in accordance with the Constitution and law, for citizens of Montenegro”.

“There haven’t been any open questions in cooperation between the Supreme court and European commission so far. I made clear decisions regarding any issue. The same will be with this or any other issue”, Ms Medenica concluded.

Head of the EU Delegation stressed that rule of law was crucial to Montenegro’s further progress in the process of EU accession.

“Ms Popa expressed hopes that judiciary will continue to contribute to achievement of Montenegro’s strategic objective”, the statement said.
