U.S. State Secretary, Mr Mike Pompeo, has arrived in Montenegro. He was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Srđan Dramanović, at Podgorica Airport.
Mr Pompeo will meet with Montenegro’s president, Mr Milo Đukanović and Prime Minister, Mr Duško Marković.
“Mr Pompeo’s official visit to Montenegro is a confirmation of stable relations we have with the USA”, representatives of the Government said.
According to State Department, one of the topics of discussion in Podgorica will be the destabilizing role of Russia.
The USA is obviously engaged and wants to see progress regarding that matter.
During conversations with Mr Đukanović, Mr Marković and Mr Darmanović, Mr Pompeo is expected to emphasize the importance of deep and long-standing friendship between Montenegro and the USA.
Mr Pompeo will also point out NATO’s openness to new members, as well as Montenegro’s contribution to the alliance.
Mr Pompeo’s European tour will finish in Greece.
