Milacic questioned about threats to Djukanovic, Markovic and Katnic

Marko Milačić

Marko Milacic, the leader of the political organization Otpor Beznadju (Resistance to Hopelessness) and the founder of Montenegro’s Neutrality Movement, has been interrogated in the police this morning for allegedly threatening and endangering the security of top state officials. Namely, in his Facebook post, Milacic addressed the latest political arrests in Montenegro.

Democratic Front official Iva Pavlovic, DF official’s Slaven Radunovic son Luka Radunovic and New Serb Democracy (NOVA) member Petar Draskovic were arrested on 19 September upon the order of the special state prosecutor Lidija Vukcevic. They are suspected of money laundering.

After the arrest, in a post on his Facebook profile, Milacic among other things advised DPS leader Milo Djukanovic, chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnic and PM Dusko Markovic that neither they nor their families would sleep peacefully.

Asked what he meant when he wrote that, Milacic answered that he was “just caring for the sleep of our criminals”.

“It’s an elementary concern for the sleep of our criminals. I believe that it is the duty of all of us who think well of Djukanovic, Markovic and a similar gang, to take care of them, as if they were our family,” he said.

He denied that he referred to a physical attack.

“I did not think that I would physically hurt one of those mentioned in my post – Milo Djukanovic, Milivoje Katnic and Dusko Markovic. They have already been sufficiently spiritually hurt, ie deprived of spirit,” said Milacic.

He added that he was aware of his announcement, and the possible consequences his post could have caused.

“In the concrete case, I meant particularly that, using concrete formulations, which would be perceived as a public warning, in a democratic manner, that the essence of every true democracy (which our state is not) is that government should fear of the people, and not vice versa, like it is the case in Montenegro where the people are afraid of the authorities,” Milacic said.
