Milic after his resignation: I will stay in SNP

President of the Socialist People’s Party (SNP) Srdjan Milic resigned yesterday as the party leader. In an interview with Dan newspaper, he said he would stay in SNP and that he expected a new session of the party’s Executive Committee to be scheduled soon. As he said the committee would note his resignation and make decisions that would define procedures within the party for organising the eighth SNP Congress.

He said that SNP as a party had done more than the voters showed through their votes. He added that the party had never given up the fight for a fairer, more equitable and better Montenegro, the state of social justice and rule of law.

“We did it for our children and the future and not for votes… Perhaps my greatest sin is that I did not let creating a cult of a leader in SNP. I insisted on making consensus, I gave priority to the common good of the party, not anyone’s personal interests. I believe that the SNP should be strengthened, not weakened,” he said.

As for the future management of SNP and the new leader of the party, Milic called in mind that the party Congress was the only body entitled to elect SNP leader.

Milic also said that SNP had been a target of numerous attacks.

As for his MP position, Milic said that it belonged to SNP.

“My MP position belongs to the party and it is on the party’s disposal,” he said.
