The Leader of the Europe Now Movement, Milojko Spajic, will have to provide justification for the State Election Commission after Serbia’s competent bodies confirmed that he has residence in Belgrade, a professor and former president of the Constitutional Court, Blagota Mitric, says commenting on the information of Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs confirming that Mr Spajic has residence in Serbia’s capital.

He points out that it’s not a good situation, particularly if Mr Spajic voted in Serbia, but doesn’t expect that it may be an obstacle for him to run for the country’s presidency, because, as he explains, he can simply say that he forgot to cancel it.

“It’s the simplest solution. Residence is not a strict legal rule. People change it as they wish. There’s always misuse when it comes to residence and citizenship. In our country, many foreigners, our nationals, cast a ballot in our country even though they’ve had the US citizenship for 20 years. They’ve been living there for so many years, they must have it. And our country tolerates it. They simply didn’t erase it,” Mr Mitric notes.

These are the administrative stuff which, according to him, look simple but may trigger some very negative or positive consequences.

“I think DIK will approve of Spajic’s candidacy and I also think they’re quite liberal”.
