Montenegro is fulfilling part of its historical and moral duty towards Petrović Dynasty

President of Montenegro, Mr Milo Đukanović, chaired the first session of the Coordination Committee on the Transfer of the remains of the descendants of Dynasty Petrović Njegoš from Italy, France and Austria.

Mr Đukanović stated that this act fulfilled another part of the historical and moral duty towards Petrović Dynasty, which had state importance in the context of raising identity awareness.

“Guided by the idea that we were obliged to fulfill our duty towards the Dynasty, our objective is to organize this dignified act with the highest military honors”, said president.

Coordination Committee has supported the activities undertaken so far and stated that working bodies had created a stable basis for further activities regarding the transfer of remains of the descendants of Petrović Dynasty.

The Committee has agreed with the proposal of the expert team regarding the location where the remains will be transferred  – Dvorsko groblje, part of Novo groblje in Cetinje.

Furthermore, Organization Commission for the Dignified transfer ceremony and burial of the remains has been formed. It was agreed that legal agreement with the countries where the remains are should be reached as soon as possible.

Coordination body is a temporary working body of the Government of Montenegro. It was formed on 31 January 2019, with the aim of organizing and coordinating activities related to the remains of the descendants of Petrović Dynasty.
