Montenegro is selling two ships of the former Yugoslav Navy

Ministry of Defense is preparing to advertise sale of the two most powerful ships that belonged to the former Yugoslav Navy. Ships P – 33 and P-34 are for sale and the reason is that the systems and technologies that the ships are equipped with are obsolete.

Patrol ships, P-33 and P-34 have been used by the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro since the 80’s.

“They are equipped with systems and technologies that are old-fashioned for the purposes and tasks of the Navy. They don’t fit in the needs of the Armed Forces of Montenegro and, consequently, those ships are constantly losing their market and usage value”, said the representatives of the Ministry of Defense.

The Ministry is preparing the Information on determining the status of patrol ships by means of which these ships will be redundant and put out of use.

The whole process is planned to be completed by 2020.

Although, Croatian media claim these ships belong to Croatia, Montenegrin Ministry categorically denies it.

“Patrol ships P-33 and P-34 belong to the Armed Forces of Montenegro. They have been based in the port in Tivat since 30 May of 1992”.

Once the most powerful war ships are sold, the money will be used for the modernization of the Army.

“Every amount of money made by tenders is aimed at the modernization of the existing systems in the Armed Forces of Montenegro”, explained the representatives of the Ministry.
