Markets of several countries of the former Yugoslavia are expected to see considerable increase in the number of passengers this season. According to the data produced by Cirium, company which analyses trends analysis in aviation and travel industry, Montenegro will record the most significant increase in the number of departing tourists compared to 2018-19.

On the other hand, Slovenia will see the biggest decline, due to the collapse of Adria Airways. Montenegro will record 28,1% growth , outperforming the second-placed Albania.

Ryanair is considerably contributing to Montenegro’s growth, as it has become the nations’ third busiest airline. This low-cost carrier is expected to take over 175.000 passengers this year.

“Macedonia will record an 18% increase, the third largest growth rate in Europe. This increase has been encouraged by Wizz Air, which added several new airlines from Skopje and Ohrid. As a result, this low-cost carrier will be operating 38 routes from Skopje. Bosnia and Herzegovina’ capacity will grow by 16,8%. This is the result of more successful season at the airport in Sarajevo thanks to the introduction of additional flights operated by Turkish Airlines, new line with Berlin and new FlyBosnia flights to London and Rome”.

Serbia will see 14% growth, thanks to Air Serbia and new airlines from Belgrade and Niš.

Croatia’s growth will remain 2,2%. Despite fast reaction of different air carriers, Slovenia is expected to record a 3,8% fall in regular air traffic.
