Montenegro issues an international arrest warrant for Aron Shaviv

An international arrest warrant was issued for British-Israeli political consultant, Aron Shaviv, who was head of the Democratic Front’s election campaign during the 2016 parliamentary elections, according to Pobjeda daily.

Montenegro re-issued the arrest warrant for ex-CIA agent Joseph Assad for his involvement in the allegedly Russian-backed coup attempt in 2016. Mr Assad was temporarily working in Montenegro as an adviser to Shaviv, then a consultant for the Democratic Front.

Special prosecutor, Saša Čađenović, explained that between July and October 2016, 1.5 million euro was paid into Shaviv’s DC LTR company account from Cyprus. The prosecution claims the money was paid by a company codenamed “S”, from the Czech Republic, whose CEO and representative are Russians.

“We suspect that from July to Oct. 2016, Shaviv transferred 100,000 euro as consultancy costs from a Cyprus company to his other firm, S Strategy and C, and transferred over 400,000 euro as a dividend to his account in Israel. From the DC account he paid money to PC Group founded by Assad,” said Cadjenovic.

Mr Assad was arrested in Sept. 2018 in the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, after MNE issued an international arrest warrant. After that, the USA used its diplomatic connections and required Assad to be released from detention and not to be extradited to Montenegro.
