The Ministry of Education, along with the National Police, has established the Commission in charge of determining measures for combating vandalism and violation, and for protection of educational facilities, the Ministry of Education told Dnevne Novine daily.

The Commission consists of the representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, the Association of Municipalities as well as the Association of Parents. Their job will be to analyze the current situation in schools that are mostly exposed to violence, and also to make a financial estimation before they propose the final solution.

“The Protection of Persons and Property Law, which entered into force in July 2018, prescribes that the protection of facilities performing activities in the public interest should be done in line with the protection plan. In accordance with this law, schools must be protected as they perform activities in the public interest,” said Aleksandar Mitrović, state secretary of the Ministry of Education.

School vandalism and violations are not just Montenegro’s problems but rather general problems of almost all educational systems, according to Mitrović. “Each party has to take its own responsibility if we want to eliminate vandalism and violations in schools.”
