Montenegro pledges full support for North Macedonia’s NATO aspirations

Montenegro will continue to pledge its support for reform processes in North Macedonia’s defense system, said secretary of state, Mr Slobodan Filipović, at the meeting with his counterpart from North Macedonia, Mr Dragan Nikolič, which was held in Skopje today.

According to the Ministry of Defense, interlocutors pointed out that friendship and alliance between their countries could serve as an example in the region that they can build high-quality inter-state relations through mutual support cooperation and exchange of experience in the area of defense.

“Mr Filipović stressed that Montenegro and North Macedonia shared the same foreign policy goals, values and aspirations and that mutual support and cooperation contributed to the achievement of those goals. He pointed out that Euro-Atlantic integration were crucial to stability and prosperity of the region which will become stronger in countering security threats when North Macedonia becomes NATO member”, Ministry communicated.

Mr Filipović pointed at favorable conditions for intensifying defense cooperation, with a view to strengthening national defense systems of both countries.

Mr Nikolić said he expected joint arrangements of Montenegro and North Macedonia to be further improved.
