Workers of the Bemax company finished boring of the Mrke tunnel on the Bar-Boljare highway on Monday at 3.30am. The tunnel is just over 800 meters long and it is the first one the boring of which has been finished on the subsection 1 of the highway priority section, CdM learns.
This is the fourth tunnel on the Smokovac-Uvac-Matesevo section. Prior to it, tunnelling of the Klopot (subsection 2), Vilac (subsection 2) and Jabucki Krs (subsection 4) was finished.
The left tube of the Mrke tunnel is 829 meters long and the right one is 800 meters long.
Tunnelling began in December last year. From the Mrke tunnel the highway continues to the Moracica bridge.
“We are satisfied with the dynamics of works in the subsection 1. We are continuing intensive works on the remaining two tunnels on the subsection – the Suka and the Vezisnik. I can announce that boring of the Suka tunnel is expected to be finished in the first months of 2018,” said Dusko Rondovic, the chief engineer at subsection 1.
As CdM learns all tunnels on the section will be bored by the summer.
The construction of 42 tunnels and 92 bridges and viaducts is planned on the Bar-Boljare highway. The project worth €809.6m is being executed by the Chinese CRBC company.
