The Government of Montenegro has so far included seven projects in the list of development projects in the area of tourism. Investors have recognized potentials of the Northern region for the first time and there will be five projects referring only to this part of the country. The remaining two investment refer to the coast, Dnevne Novine daily writes.

The total value of these seven projects exceeds €190 million. Future hotels will comprise 959 accommodation units, which means that the offer of hotels’ high-class accommodation will be more than doubled.

“Given that these projects will create an opportunity for 769 new jobs, it can be noted that the interest expressed so far confirms our expectation that this program will be a significant impetus to the overall development of Montenegro, with an emphasis on the development of under-developed local units within the self-governments,” the Montenegrin Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism explained.

Durmitor hotel

The town of Žabljak represents a synonym for the winter tourism season. It has long deserved a high-quality hotel and will finally get it. It’s about Durmitor hotel, which is going to be constructed by the company ‘Durmitor Hotel and Villas’, owned by Mr Petros Stathis, a businessman from Greece who has been running a range of hotels in the Montenegrin coast. The old hotel, beautifully located in the midst of the national park Durmitor, will get a new look for almost €20 million. Žabljak will thus be richer for a new five-star hotel hosting some 68 beds. It will also comprise 55 luxury suites and 12 villas designed with fireplaces and natural materials. Spread over 1.000 m2, the extensive resort will offer Spa & Wellness center, a club for kids, a conference room, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool as well as the extensive fitness center fitted with advanced equipment. This charming but forgotten hotel is only a stone’s throw from the Black Lake. After the opening ceremony planned for May 2022, more than 100 Montenegro citizens will get a job.

Westin Kolašin Resort

Apart from Žabljak, Kolašin has also been recognized as a town worth of investing, as even four projects will be realized in this town.

The first 4-star condo-hotel, which is to be built in this town, is Kolašin Resort & Spa. It will grace the attractive location of a well-known ski resort Kolašin 1450. The hotel will be hosting 93 beds, and the project envisages 66 new jobs. According to estimations, the total value of the investment is nearly €11.5 million.  The company ‘York Hotels & Resorts’ will be running the resort under the premium luxury hotel brand ‘Westin’, while the facility will be called Westin Kolašin Resort.

The project itself was supposed to be completed by the end of 2022 but certain delays have occurred.

Breza hotel

Another condo-hotel that is to grace the town of Kolašin is a five-star Breza Hotel with 148 accommodation units. It will offer a swimming pool alongside the spa center, restaurants, conference rooms, Turkish baths as well as a zone for relaxing.

The value of the project is €19.5 million and it’s expected that 120 people will find a job there.

Bjelasica 1450

Bjelasica 1450 hotel is the third in a row of hotels to be built in Kolašin. This 4-star building will be hosting 168 beds, offering 96 jobs. The total value of the investment is approximately €18 million and preparatory works for its construction, which will be performed by the company ‘Zetagradnja’, owned by a businessman Mr Blagota Radović, are underway. The hotel should be opened until the 2021 winter season.

Kolašin 1600

In addition, a new tourist complex is soon to be constructed in Kolašin. The K16 (four-star) condo-hotel will be built first. Works should start this summer, and the tenant (“Gener 2 Shpk” from Albania and ‘Ski-resort Kolašin 1600’ from Montenegro) has a contractual deadline to prepare and revise the technical documentation by December 17. During this year, a little more than half a million euro was invested, and the plan is to invest a total of €1.2 million by the end of the year. The total value of the project is €6 million.

Kraljičina Plaža hotel

Adriatic Properties has started construction works on the complex encompassing Kraljičina Plaža hotel, Sveti Stefan and Miločer, investing at least €110 million. In line with the long-term lease contract of the hotel ‘Kraljičina Plaža’, the said company is going to build this 5-star hotel hosting some 126 beds.  The planned investment in the construction of the hotel is €73 million. So far, around €8 million has been invested, while another €7 million will be poured into its construction by the end of the year. After the completion, 229 people will get a job there.

Boka Place hotel

Another major development project is the construction of Boka Place hotel within Porto Montenegro, Tivat. This 5-star hotel will offer 240 beds for its guests. A total of €44 million will be invested, whereas 96 people will be able to work there.
