The defense ministers of 16 Allies, including Montenegrin defense minister, Predrag Bošković, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on multinational cooperation for the provision of land battle decisive munitions (LBDM) during the NATO Summit in Brussels.
Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Rose Gottemoeller, attended the signing ceremony as well.
„She praised the initiative, saying that it will increase increase Allies’ ability to share munitions and work more smoothly and effectively in the field. She also added that over time, this initiative will help troops to increase their interoperability and effectiveness where it is needed most,“ the Ministry of Defense reported.
This project will reduce costs, enabling the national budgets to go even further.
The project for the provision of land battle decisive munitions was launched at the meeting of NATO defense ministers in June 2017, when 11 NATO Allies and Finland launched the project by signing a Letter of Intent. Signing of Memorandum created legal basis for participants to jointly acquire land munition.
