New government to set new deadline for the completion of highway

Supervisory body hasn’t decided yet on the request of Chinese CRBC Company for the new deadline for the completion of the priority section of Bar-Boljare highway, said Mr Jonuz Mujević, CEO of Monteput.

Deadline for the completion of works on Smokovac-Mateševo section defined by the annex to the agreement on the construction in May last year expires today.

Mr Mujević said that new agreement would be signed after supervisory body rendered a decision.

French-Italian consortium, Ingerop Geodata, has been engaged to carry out professional supervision.

The main contractor, CRBC Company, has initiated procedures and submitted request for the extension of the deadline and additional costs, in line with the force majeure clause provoked by coronaviurs pandemic.

The initial deadline for the completion of works on the priority section was 11 May last year.

In May last year, the Government signed annexes to the agreement on projection and construction of Smokovac-Mateševo section, in relation to additional works in Smokovac loop, water supply system and permanent electricity supply. With these annexes, 30 September 2020 was the new deadline.

According to the latest estimates of the Government and Monteput, works on priority section will be finished during summer next year.

The initial construction value was €809 million. With additional works, this section is expected to cost around €895 million.
