Starting from October, 15 of this year, any imported passenger or freight vehicle must be equipped with motor of minimum standard EURO 4, whereas a brand new vehicle must have EURO 6, minimum standard, reports the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs.

“The Ministry has drafted amendments to the Rule book on technical requirements for imported vehicles or those that are placed at the Montenegrin market for the very first time. This Rule book also defines minimum limit value regarding exhaust emission and noise level  for new and used motor vehicles”, reports the Ministry.

These safety and technical characteristics are improved and they will only make the vehicle safer. Also, Montenegro is obliged to follow and transpose regulations in force regarding ecological standards for vehicles.

In the forthcoming period, the Ministry will carry out the Study of the age structure of vehicles by categories and types, and it will give basic indicators and measures for the “rejuvenation” of the rolling pool and increase of safety degree in traffic.

EURO  4 regulation limits the emission of harmful gases in new vehicles. EURO 6 motors reduce pollution and control fuel consumption.
