Nikolić: Unamended laws to serve as platform for dialogue

Miloš Nikolić

View of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) is that dialogue with the opposition should be resumed in the regular parliamentary procedure, said DPS member, Mr Miloš Nikolić. In a statement for Dan, Mr Nikolić said that permanent committees could be the first phase of conversations over electoral law and media laws.

“DPS has already adopted most ODIHR recommendations. The only Law we haven’t amended is the Law on Election of MPs and Other Councilors and it was in the absence of two-third majority. It is that proposal for the law and the set of media laws that should serve as platform for further dialogue. The first phase could begin in permanent committees”, Mr Nikolić said.

He said that they had called every parliamentary party.

“That’s what they have to do, it’s their duty. We are willing to talk and consider proposals and models suggested by the members of the opposition”, said Mr Nikolić.

He said that DPS would soon complete its party infrastructure.

“One part of authorities has already been formed. We finished some activities in municipal election conferences before the congress and we completed the process of the formation of party bodies at local level. Most party bodies have already been formed”, said Mr Nikolić.
