Nikšić-based steelworks to use liquefied natural gas

Tosčelik

Owner of the Nikšić-based steelworks, Tosčelik, submitted the request to the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, MORiT, for issuing the construction permit for liquefied natural gas (LNG) installation. Tosčelik representatives announced that the company opted for this considering the fact natural gas represents one of the most important energy sources in the factory’s production. In this way, according to them, it would be possible to avoid halts which cause great losses in the production process.

“The investment will be realized in cooperation with the partners that are to provide Tosčelik with gas. The total investment value will be known after the project finishes, and we expect to start using liquefied natural gas in September 2020,” Tosčelik announced.

The company also said it expected new investment in the following period.
Last year, Tosčelik lost €4.2 million and recruited 311 employees.
