Over €17m for reconstruction of several clinics within the Clinical Center

More than €17 million will be invested in the reconstruction of several clinics within the Clinical Center of Montenegro, which means that citizens will be able to get quality health services in new and contemporary clinics equipped according to European standards, the govt announced today.

Following the successful fight against Covid-19, the govt will keep investing in the long-term strengthening of capacities in the healthcare system, while the EU will continue providing partnership and assistance in this regard.

“Our aim is to have a strong and adequately equipped healthcare system, which can respond to all health challenges effectively and ensure a quality protection for all citizens,” the govt said.

EU will earmark €8.5 million

The EU intends to allocate €8.5 million for the construction of infectious diseases hospitals and dermatovenerology within the Clinical Center of Montenegro.

“A clinic for mental diseases will be built and the premises of the former Oncology Clinic will be reconstructed for the needs of the Center for Hematology, and all this will be realized from donations to the National Coordination Body and funds of the Government of Montenegro. The value of these works is €8.7 million.”

Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, Aivo Orav, handed over today a Letter of Intent for the construction of clinics for infectious diseases and dermatovenereology to Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Duško Marković.

The Prime Minister thanked the EU for the overall support and assistance in the battle against the coronavirus.

“These clinics will be a kind of proof of the difficult times we went through together, but also of our solidarity manifested through this assistance,” PM Marković noted.

The aim of the project is to respond to the real needs of patients, whereas funds for the construction of clinics for infectious diseases and dermatovenereology were provided from IPA funds. The total value of the investment is €8.532 million without VAT, and the project envisages the construction, supervision over works, equipping and formal opening of two clinics.
