The Special State Prosecutor’s Office, SDT, has been conducting inquiry over numerous violations shortly before the 2016 parliamentary elections and investigators plan to focus on unlawful financing of certain political parties, Pobjeda daily reveals.
Investigators collected data indicating various irregularities in financing political parries, as well as suspicious cash flows through non-resident accounts. The SDT will conduct an inquiry over all suspected financial flows and check media bribery as well.
This is the second launched investigation by the Montenegrin prosecution in order to determine what happened at the parliamentary elections held in 2016. The topic went viral after the Reuters news agency published Latvia’s authorities had investigated whether its banks acted as conduits for Russian money used to interfere in elections and politics elsewhere.
