The general counsel of the Bemax company, Zoran Piperovic, asked the outgoing Prime Minister, about the evidence that Bemax was involved in cigarette smuggling from the Free Zone Port of Bar, which the prime minister claimed to possess.
Mr Abazovic has said that he’s going to make a declaration in the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, SDT, next week over his claims in parliament on 19 August, during the vote of no confidence in his government. In an interview for Vijesti, he said that he had already prepared documentation “confirming the data he mentioned”.
Nevertheless, the lawyer of Bemax is not surprised with PM Abazovic’s statement that it wasn’t up to him to collect evidence, as the prosecution should have done it.
“Just to ask: Where’s the evidence about cigarette smuggling done by a company whose name, I admit, he wisely didn’t mention? Who’s making those trafficking schemes? What’s their basis? There’s no proof about it, of course. But let’s wait for the beginning of next week, having in mind the announcement of our neighbour that he’s going to make a declaration in the SDT in Podgorica concerning tobacco smuggling,” Mr Piperovic said in a statement for the Pobjeda portal.
