The U.S. Secretary of State, Mr Mike Pompeo, congratulated Montenegro on Statehood Day.
“The United States and Montenegro have long been friends, partners and Allies. Montenegro’s contribution to NATO has encouraged regional and global security. I commend the Montenegrin soldiers serving side by side with us in Afghanistan and Europe and welcome your country’s commitment to send troops to Iraq by year’s end,” he noted.

The United Stated, he added, strongly support Montenegro’s reform efforts necessary for EU membership.
“The United States will continue to work with you to strengthen media freedom, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. Our shared values and commitment to peace and security ensure the bond between our countries will continue to deepen,” Mr Pompeo said.
