Port of Bar needs investments to become main European transport hub

Vladan Vučelić

The Port of Bar has been separated from the main distribution centers on the Mediterranean and also hubs of the Trans-European transport network. I don’t want to justify such a state of play by saying that we have poor infrastructure or old trains, but I just want to note that the Port of Bar’s capacities can be better used, but we need investments in order to maintain the operational docks and harbor infrastructure. We’ve had plans for that and there are some important circumstances for their implementation already, said executive director of the Port of Bar, Mr Vladan Vučelić.

He reminded of the fact those investments have been an integral part of the recently concluded Annex IV of the Agreement on the Use of Coastal Zone. Based on this Agreement, the Port of Bar committed to invest over EUR 60 million by 2037.

“According to the law, the determined models for financing planned projects include the introduction of investors,” said Mr Vučelić.

He also noted he has been satisfied with the results of the former managerial structures in the company led by Mr Zarija Franović.
