Reconstruction of Dinoša-Cijevna Zatrijebačka road started on 17 July and should be finished in a year. After the reconstruction, regional road from Podgorica to Gusinje will be 75 kilometers long.

Transport Administration engineer, Ms Svetlana Janjević, said to Pobjeda that this road was 17,3 kilometers long and that Tehnoput company was the contractor.

“Works will cost around €9 million. Deadline for the completion of works is mid July next year”, said Ms Janjević.

This road sections finishes at the newly-built border crossing with Albania – Cijevna Zatrijebačka. This section is part of the regional road from Podgorica to Gusinje which is mostly going through Albania. Part of the road in Albania has been finished. It takes more than three hours to travel from Podgorica to Gusinje through Morača Canyon.

After this part of regional road is reconstructed, Podgorica-Gusinje road will be 75 kilometers long which means that travelling will be by 120 km shorter.

NORTH-SOUTH

Representatives of the Government have been highlighting the multiple importance of Podgorica-Gusinje road, especially part of it relating to the connection of the north and the south of Montenegro which will considerably shorten the distance between Podgorica and Gusinje. Apart from north-south connection, this road will have an impact on the value of the Cijevna canyon. Representatives of the Government have said earlier that project documentation really puts environment protection into focus.

“The existing driveway on Dinoša- Cijevna Zatrijebačka section is 3-4 meters wide. After the reconstruction it will be 6,1 meters wide”, said Ms Janjević.

She added that supporting walls were going to be built on some parts of this section. Also, the coast will be protected from erosion, said Ms Janjević .

“The rod project has been designed in such a way that the road extends towards the hills as much as possible and “runs away” from Cijevna”, explained Ms Janjević.

EXPROPRIATION

According to Ms Janjević, land expropriation is underway.

“There’s state-owned land, as well as private land , especially on the first kilometer and half of the road going through the populated area”, said Ms Janjević.
