Radulović: Tara riverbed hasn’t been dislocated

Pavle Radulović

Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Mr Pavle Raduloivć, has been asked to comment on the NGOs’ views that the administration “keeps it quiet” now that UNESCO report has shown that Tara is devastated. Minister invited the public to wait until 10 July when UNESCO is due to deliver final report.

“The Report is a collection of information and observations on the basis of which a group of experts is going to draw conclusions and render decisions. I said in November and I’ll say it again – Tara riverbed hasn’t been dislocated, Tara isn’t endangered and it’s not going to be excluded from the Man and Biosphere Program. It’s not true that we are pursuing impunity policy- on the contrary. Once again, nobody has ever said that highway construction hasn’t got an impact on Tara. We have been claiming that the impact is limited, it’s local, temporary, and part of the impacts don’t even have any effect on the protected areas”, said Mr Radulović.

He is very satisfied that the Ministry has submitted application for putting Saltworks in Ulcinj on Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance.

He hopes that the application will be successful. Six out of nine requirements for the inclusion in the list have already been met.

“As you already know, first we adopted the Spatial Urban Plan on the Municipality of Ulcinj by means of which we chose this area to be protected. Then, we carried out protection study, with the EC assistance and part of NGO sector and our agency for the Protection of Nature and Environment and sent it to the Municipality for adoption. The Municipality adopted it and now this area is officially Nature Park”, said Mr Radulović.
