Mr Radulović wrote to highest EC officials on importance of procuring certain doses of vaccines for MNE

Đorđe Radulović

On the eve of the summit of EU leaders to be held on January 21, Foreign Minister, Mr Đorđe Radulović, has written today to the European Commission President, Ms Ursula von der Layen, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mr Josep Borrell and the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Mr Olivér Várhelyi, to emphasize the importance of procuring certain doses of vaccines for Montenegro.

Mr Radulović thanked the EU and its member states for the assistance provided to Montenegro since the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic in early 2020, assessing that the procurement of medical devices, support for our health system, as well as the possibility of long-term assistance aimed at ensuring economic stability, have been noted and are highly appreciated in Montenegro.

“In a letter addressed to the highest EC officials, Mr Radulović pointed out that the distribution of vaccines to Montenegro would be even more significant, bearing in mind that our country has about 600,000 inhabitants and that inoculation has not started, although plans and strategies have been prepared,” the Ministry said.

With that in mind, they added, the head of Montenegrin diplomacy has welcomed the initiative of the Commissioner Várhelyi, which was launched in mid-December, with the goal of providing an initial dose of approved vaccines for the Western Balkans region in cooperation with EU member states.
