Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Pavle Radulović, is attending an informal meeting of EU Ministers of Environment in Sofia. The Ministry said this is a good opportunity for cooperation and consultation with European counterparts regarding Chapter 27 on the environment, which will soon be considered on the European agenda.

Bulgaria chairs the EU from January to June 2018 and is organizing an informal meeting of 28 EU environmental ministers, EU and European Parliament’s officials in the field of environmental protection, climate change and food safety, as well as line ministers of Western Balkan countries.

European Commission has informed Montenegro that the preparation of the Common Position for Chapter 27 – Environment and Climate Change has already begun, the Ministry reported, adding that this will be the basis for discussion with EU member states.

Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism underlined they are ready to present their work to the Council of Ministers under Bulgaria’s six-month presidency as soon as this is requested, after which the representatives of Montenegro will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the document.

“Bearing this in mind, the presence of Montenegrin Delegation led by Minister Radulovic is of utmost importance”, they stressed.

At the meeting in Sofia, the theme of the first session is Air Quality, while the second session is dedicated to finding smart solutions for better implementation of EU environmental legislation.
