Reinke: We celebrate our permanent partnership with Montenegro

My time in Montenegro has showed me that the American and Montenegrin people are united in their shared belief in fundamental values, among which freedom and equality occupy a special place. I am proud to announce that as of today, we’re going to emphasize our common values through a communications campaign to celebrate permanent partnership and friendship with Montenegro, says the Ambassador of the United States of America, Ms Judy Rising Reinke.

The U.S. Ambassador also points out that America today marks its 244th Independence Day.

“The fourth of July is a very important date in my country. It’s a day we spend with our families and friends, honoring it with barbecues and fireworks displays. Today we celebrate the freedom that the founders of my country fought for,” noted Ms Reinke.

This year is different, according to her, having in mind the global outbreak of the coronavirus.

“Here in Montenegro, the entire community of the U.S. Embassy is very happy to be working together to address issues caused by the coronavirus. We want to thank everyone in Montenegro who has worked hard to protect our health and safety,” the U.S. Ambassador noted.

Even as America continues to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, it is also grappling with the painful social issues of racism and social injustice.

She continued: “Even though the United States aspires to the highest ideals, we must be honest with ourselves and our legacy – and we must strive to do better. Our history has borne witness to a constant, unceasing struggle for full equality for all people. This is the promise of our fight for the independence 244 years ago. And that is what we still fight for today.”
