Relations with Turkey remain stable with economic exchange on the rise

Vice-President of the Government for Economic Policy and Financial System and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Milutin Simović and Turkish Minister of Sport and the Youth, Mr Mehmet Kasapoğlu, said that relations between Montenegro and Turkey were very stable and that economic exchange was on the rise.

Mr Simović and Mr Kasapoğlu are chairing the Mixed Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of Turkey. Its 5th session will take place today and tomorrow in Podgorica.

Mr Simović expressed satisfaction with chairing the Mixed Commission and working together with Mr Kasapoğlu on the improvement of economic and bilateral and partnership relations between their countries.

It was confirmed that Montenegro and Turkey maintained stable relations in almost all areas.

Mr Simović said that this visit of the Turkish delegation, headed by Mr Kasapoğlu, would contribute to further enhancement of economic relations and trade exchange to mutual benefit.

Mr Simović emphasized the importance of Protocols I and III on the liberalization of mutual trade of agriculture products and access to service market.

“These protocols are vital for Montenegrin producers and agriculture industries. Economic relations between our countries are constantly improving and the goals set for the forthcoming period are real and achievable”, said Mr Simović.

Interlocutors stated that sport and cooperation between young people and the agriculture, were areas with immense potential for further cooperation.

Talking about Montenegro’s readiness to maintain and speed up trends with Turkey, Mr Simović said that both sides should have sport, winning spirit.

Mr Kasapoğlu thanked Mr Simović for his hospitality and warm welcome he had received. He said he was glad to be in Montenegro for the first time.

Mr Kasapoğlu reiterated that Turkish Government was well aware of Montenegro’s significant contribution to the stabilization process in the WB.

Minister Simović stressed that NATO membership wasn’t only Montenegro’s success but also success of the region.

Both sides expressed said they firmly believed tomorrow’s session and the adoption of the Protocol would open a new phase in the fulfillment of tasks that the Commission had taken upon itself.
