Russian services are planning to attack Montenegro again

Moskva

Russian services are preparing for another attack on Montenegro with the aim of destabilizing it, says Darko Trifunović, expert for security. Without doubt, two years ago Montenegro avoided great evil but that scenario has second part.

These days Montenegro is facing critics regarding the position of Serbs in Montenegro. Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Vuk jeremić, among others, said that Serbs in Montenegro are in more difficult position today than it was the case during the Ottomans. Montenegro is being presented like a country where national minorities have no rights at all.

“There are specific indicators on the basis of which we draw some conclusions. The first parameter is to identify those influential people who could affect the security situation in Montenegro”, says Trifunović.

He also claims that anti-Montenegrin policy is conducted by the top of the clergy.

“Serbian Orthodox Church has been abused. Priests are taking the role of politicians”, says Trifunović.

He warns that Serbian and Montenegrin nations mustn’t come into conflict. Right now, Montenegro has the most complex security and safety situation.

“In that sense, Veselin Veljović takes the function of the Director of Police Department. There will be additional changes in human resources and it will be necessary to strengthen other services, especially National Security Agency”, says Trifunović.

Political analyst from Zagreb, Davor Đenero, says that Serbia has systematically been trying to disunite one part of the Montenegrin social corpus for years.

“Group of people declaring themselves to be Serbs, isn’t defined by any other ethnic origin, different culture or religious identity which is different from other citizens of Serbia. In that sense, they don’t fulfill the criteria for considering them national minorities. The only common characteristic is that they don’t recognize Montenegrin statehood and don’t want to belong to the European and Euro-Atlantic social and political milieu, but they rather see Montenegro as part of some imaginary Euro-Asian community. Spreading that dangerous words that administration in Podgorica is equal to the Ottoman rule or to fascist Independent State of Croatia really goes beyond usual Russian machinations”, says Đenero.

President of Liberal Party, Andrija Popović, also thinks that an orchestrated campaign against Montenegro is currently taking place.

“Montenegro knew how to deal with similar provocations in even more complex and more difficult times. Therefore, I’m sure it will know how to deal with this as well”, said Popović.
