Kindergarten application procedures won’t introduce restrictions on number of preschoolers, Sehovic

Damir Šehović

Montenegrin education minister Damir Sehovic says the Ministry of Education doesn’t even consider restricting the number of children who are to be enrolled in Montenegrin kindergartens.

It’s obvious the kindergarten facilities have been overcrowded but Sehovic explained this is not the case in every municipality. “In some municipalities, we need to increase the number of preschoolers,” Sehovic told to MINA news agency.

He explained that kindergartens in the capital and in some southern cities are mostly overcrowded due to the great number of enrolled children and demographic changes.

“Restricting the number of preschool children will never be our choice as we always choose what’s better for preschoolers and not what’s easier for us,” Sehovic noted.

He reminded of the ongoing project with the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), which envisages construction of 7 facilities, as well as of the allocated funds of Montenegrin government for building a facility regardless of the project.
