Serbian Ambassador: It’s pointless to see enemies everywhere

Bingulac

Serbian Ambassador to Montenegro Zoran Bingulac responded to yesterday’s Serbian Telegraf’s writing, saying that a good cooperation between the two countries has been achieved in the past period. The cooperation has been assessed as the best in the last twenty years by the top officials of both countries.

“Of course, political parties play a significant role in this process. The principle ‘the worse it is the better it is’, ie the illogical thesis that the unresolved issues can be solved more easily in conflict situations, belongs to the past. It’s not helpful to see enemies where they do not exist, because you can end up being an enemy to yourself,” Bingulac said in a response to the media.

Bingulac adds that numerous meetings of the highest-ranking officials were held, which is a rare example in contemporary international relations.

“Certainly, the wise decision of President Aleksandar Vucic that the Serbian Cultural and Information Centre will be founded by the Serbian government will contribute to the successful work of all Serbian cultural institutions in Montenegro. The centre is expected to be opened in September,” says Bingulac.

He adds that the Embassy is guided exclusively by the principles of classical diplomacy, without interfering with the internal affairs of a sovereign state.

The ambassador also notes that in the four-year period, in addition to attending the official meetings of the highest representatives of the two countries, he met former Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic only twice.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in its work does not cooperate with the political parties. The cooperation is directly made by the related parties of the two countries. Thus, the statement by one of the important opposition leaders about dissatisfaction with the cooperation with the embassy is completely illogical, because something must exist to be assessed as good or bad,” Bingulac said.

He adds that the Embassy is oriented towards direct cooperation with public institutions, associations of diplomats and prominent individuals who understand political and cultural tendencies in Montenegro.

Responding to allegations that he spent holiday on the Sveti Stefan island, which was financed by Djukanovic, Bingulac says he hes not visited the island for 25 years and that he spent his vacation in Serbia.
