Stable bilateral relations lead to further economic cooperation

Montenegro and Turkey have agreed on the improving the cooperation in ten areas within trade and economic relations and concluded the agreement on cooperation of ministers in charge of sport and the youth. In the 5th session of the Mixed Commission for Economic Cooperation between Government of Montenegro and the Government of Turkey, co-chaired by Mr Milutin Simović, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Turkish Minister of Sport, Mr Mehmet Kasapoğlu, it was stated that Montenegro and Turkey had excellent political relations.

Mr Simović said that the Conference confirmed that intense economic cooperation was very important for the continuous improvement of bilateral relations between Montenegro and Turkey.

He said that Montenegro had become reliable and attractive investment destination through creation of competitive business environment.

“We have concluded negotiations on the amendments to the free trade agreement by means of which trade of services has been further liberalized and scope of agriculture products with preferential status extended. I would like to express my great satisfaction with the result. I think this is a giant step forward for both countries”, said Mr Simović.

Co-chair on the Turksih part, Mr Kasapoğlu, thanked the Government of Montenegro and Mr Simović for the hospitality. He pointed out that Turkey considered Montenegro as honest and reliable partner and that their bilateral cooperation could serve as an example. He stressed that they should take all the opportunities provided by the free trade agreement.

Both sides agreed that the next session should be held in 2020, when the host will be the Government of Turkey.
