Strong economic growth contributed to growth in budget revenues

Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, Mr Radoje Žugić, attended the annual meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and told strong economic growth contributed to growth in budget revenues, noting that measures of fiscal consolidation have continued. He also said that the budget deficit decreased, while the focus of the Government of Montenegro is to decrease it below 60 per cent of GDP in 2022.

During the meeting, Mr Žugić expressed gratitude for the technical support of the IMF in the preparation of issuance of Eurobonds, as well as for the overall technical support that this organization has been providing to MNE.

“The positive trend of deposit growth and credit activity of banks have continued followed by the simultaneous drop in the amount of non-performing loans and interest rates,” the Central Bank of Montenegro stated.

In addition, the Governor thanked the IMF for provided technical assistance in strengthening supervisory capacities.
