Svetozar Marovic failed to pay the fine

Marović sa Begovićem

Former high official of DPS Svetozar Markovic has failed to pay a fine of one million and hundred thousand euros to the budget of Montenegro, as per his plea bargain with Special Prosecutions. He admitted to having organized a criminal group that brought several millions of damages to the budget of Budva municipality.

His attorney Zdravko Begovic said for Pobjeda daily that Marovic is still in for treatment at the Institute for Mental Health in Belgrade. The attorney had no information about when the payment might be made. In any case, the prosecution can sell his property that is worth much more, Begovic said.

At the moment of plea bargain conclusion, prosecution put a mortgage on Marovic’s property, whose value is higher than the amount he should paid. In the plea bargain, Marovic accepted a punishment of three years and nine months in prison.

In March, red Interpol warrant was issued with Marovic’s name.

He admitted to taking part in frauds in cases Donji bulevar, Krapina, Jaz, water supply system, Properti investment, Kopirajt, Prijevor i TK Plaza.
