Tax collections rise in January-April

According to preliminary data of the Ministry of Finance, €484.2 m has been collected in the first quarter of the year, which is by 14.6% higher compared to the same period last year.

Revenue collection from January to the end of April increased by €9.3m, that is, 2% above the plan for this period. All categories of tax revenues have increased.

“Collection of corporate income tax increased by 25%, VAT collection went up by 16.4%, income tax 9.7%, while collection of excise tax remains at the same level as in the last year,” the Ministry of Finance reveals.

Contributions rose to 11.4% compared to the same period last year, and 5.2% above the plan.

Budget expenses in the first quarter of the year amounted to €544.5m, i.e. 12.4% of GDP. Realized budget deficit amounted to €60.4m or 1.4% of estimated GDP, whereas April marks a €9.7m surplus.
