Ten to Eight – Collapse

You are reading a daily contextual review of the news that marked the previous weekend.

By Ljubomir Filipović, CdM observer

There is no budget, due to disturbed relations within the Government its sessions are postponed, there is no coordination, there is no support in Parliament.

“Relaxed. Budget on hold, institutions collapsing. Ministers realized in the middle of the year that temporary financing was a bad option. We are facing season with a Government like this. It will be merry”, wrote SDP MP Raško Konjević on Twitter.

Repentance

After a merry night at the reception of Metropolitan Joanikije, it is obvious that some woke up with a hangover yesterday. PM Zdravko Krivokapić was one of the first guests of the newly launched Euronews service in Serbian, which is owned by the Serbian Government btw. In the interview with this company, PM Krivokapić justified himself a little because he had to postpone the signing of the Fundamental Agreement. Parliament Speaker Aleksa Bečić justified himself a bit as well, as he was obviously uncomfortable while Danica Crnogorčević, the muse of the Serbian World whose songs Onamo Namo and Veseli se Srpski Rode were sang at a dinner with the Metropolitan. He said he did not talk about politics there. Mr Bečić also tweeted on 3 June, the day when the Declaration of Independence of Montenegro was adopted in Parliament, saying that anyone who questions the independence and sovereignty of Montenegro will have an enemy in it.

Truncated BiH presidency meets with Đukanović

Members of the Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) presidency Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić visited Montenegro yesterday. Someone would call this presidency truncated, I would call it complete, because without that unnecessary member, it seems completely complete, dedicated to Bosnia-Herzegovina. President Milo Đukanović said on Twitter that he had the conversation with the members of the BiH Presidency.

POSP in Podgorica (virtually)

The session of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association between Montenegro and the EU was held yesterday. Chairman Vladimir Bilčik reiterated what he had been saying publicly and in reports for some time: that the recommendations of the Venice Commission must be respected, that there must be fears about what is happening in Montenegro, and that negotiating teams must be formed to continue the accession process.

Farmers v. Minister

After the arrogant Minister Aleksandar Stijović waved his arms, threw folders and insulted the farmers, the association of pig breeders reacted. Danilovgrad Dairy Association also reacted again. There is no budget, and even if there was, it would be too thin when it comes to subsidizing agriculture.

Threats to the former Defense Ministry official

Former head of the Human Resources Directorate Mihailo Volkov received an anonymous letter on 18 May to the address of his law office in Podgorica, in which an unknown author or authors uttered threats and severe insults to him, Pobjeda reports. After the change of Government on 30 August, the formation of the “expert” Government led by PM Zdravko Krivokapić and the arrival of a new management structure in the Ministry of Defense, Mihalo Volkov was promptly fired, directly by order of Minister Olivera Injac. Mr Volkov was not silent, especially when the series of employments started outside the legal bases and most often due to the direct political or personal favor of the minister. That is why he filed two criminal charges against Minister Injac – on 23 March and 13 April – accusing her of illegal employment and abuse of office.

21. May presented

Yesterday, the 21. Maj Civic Initiative to which I belong was presented at Barutana. Many things were said, and the event was beautiful. But in order not to abuse this column, which should be impartial, I will not write much about it today.

That’s it for today. See you again on Monday.
