Ten to Eight – Dritan PM, Medojevic Security Coordinator

You are reading a daily contextual review of the news that marked the previous weekend.

By Ljubomir Filipovic, CdM observer

This is just some of the pile of information we have been hearing about the Montenegrin government reshuffle. We have heard that the Movement for Changes (PZP) wants Medojevic in the position of coordinator of security services instead of Abazovic, but now we hear that this is unacceptable for the Prime Minister. Democrats accuse URA of wanting to overthrow the government, and that Abazovic has prime ministerial ambitions. The Bosniak Party says that the pro-European government with minorities is the only way, and this fuels rumors that Abazovic is meeting separately with representatives of SDP, SD and minorities and that he is negotiating a “coup”. Democrats could hardly wait for proof of this as their quarrels with URA continues on a daily basis. Now Democrats are calling out URA for making a deal with the DF over the judiciary, while URA is calling out Democrats for hypocrisy when they say they are not interested in positions. The difference is basically that the Democrats support Krivokapic’s proposal, while URA insists on an expert government that has never existed. Goran Danilovic also joined the attacks on URA. When it comes to the micro-parties from the ruling coalition, the SNP is for a hybrid model of experts and politicians. What is certain is that there will be no agreement soon, and without a functioning government with ever-higher prices, and an ever-lower standard of living for the citizens, we are entering a very long winter.

Prime Minister’s antibodies

The director of the Public Health Institute defended the Prime Minister at the weekend over the decision not to get vaccinated, justifying the decision with a high level of antibodies. Galic quietly said that they recommended vaccination, but, as we said, the goal of the address was the PM’s apology.

SD MP Nikola Zirojevic’s comment that the Prime Minister’s blood should be patented was likable.

Joke aside, there are a lot of confusing messages in the public, as well as those of our doctor from Russia, who is being forced by Vijesti, and who advertises Sputnik, that he has 15,000 antibodies and that he can “go to the red zone without a mask”. Dr Marija Backovic, a researcher at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, reacted to these claims. In short, Backovic says that people also die from Covid despite being full of antibodies, and that the immune response to the virus is much more complex than just counting antibodies.

Getting good state jobs 2.0

The Government of Montenegro has appointed Danilo Mrvaljevic as the acting director of the State Archives of Montenegro. Mrvaljevic is a member of the Democrats. Before that, Danilo was employed in Budva, where he rarely came to work, gaining experience for Cetinje. This is just another in a series of numerous employments in state bodies before the elections in the city scheduled for 5 December.

Institutionalization of extremism

Orthodox Brotherhood Zavjetnici Tvrdos Niksic, a militant Orthodox organization, whose individual members are marked in the security records as persons of interest, have officially registered as a non-governmental organization, Pobjeda reports. Orthodox youth fraternities have been established throughout Montenegro on a similar principle for many years, cultivating a militaristic culture within which religious and nationalist extremism is spreading.

An example for many

Prominent Montenegrin emigrant and humanist from the United States of America Blazo Sredanovic donated €100,000 to the Old Royal Capital Cetinje, which will be distributed to children from 20 families in a state of social need. Cetinje will transfer the donated money to the accounts of families after the local elections scheduled for 5 December, in order to avoid the politicization of this humanitarian act.

That’s it for today. We wish you a pleasant rest of the day.
