Elections now or elections in October

Yesterday, the Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration supported the amendments to the Law on Local Self-Government, which envisage that the elections in Podgorica and 13 municipalities will be held on 30 October. The proposal was supported by the MPs of DPS, SDP, URA and SNP, while other Committee members from other parties were not in the hall at the time of declaring.

Konatar said that they had proposed a similar solution before and that both the DF and the Democrats were in favor of such a proposal.

This proposal is criticized by the parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition, as well as the civil sector. While the embassies and the EU are keeping silent, Becic informs the Popa that they will leave the Committee on Comprehensive Electoral Reform, if the elections are postponed.

During that time, the president is calling for the elections in Pljevlja on 3 July.

The legal intricacies are clear, but no one is publicly saying why this is all being done. Who the elections suit, and who they do not suit at the moment. The elections do not suit the challengers and those who are now left without state resources.

Democrats and their troubled allies related to Spajic and Milatovic are counting on success in the June and July elections thanks to the fact that they still have people deployed at management and operational positions in the system, thanks to the fact that they employed large number of people in the administration. The new parliamentary majority reckons it could “clean up” the administration and appoint its own people by October.

There, that is what Montenegrin politics is all about today.

Katnic and the Democrats on the Europol initiative

Yesterday, Libertas Press published information that prosecutor Sasa Cadjenovic, on 20 January this year, taking into account the documentation received from Europol, made a decision not to initiate proceedings against police officers Milovic and Lazovic. Yesterday, the new Special State Prosecutor (SDT) decided to reopen the case against them. Former SDT Katnic defended his colleague yesterday and said that it was the position of SDT, not only Cadjenovic, explaining his decision by saying that Lazovic’s activities were part of his regular business activities, which he reported to his superiors. Katnic did not mention Milovic, but he stated for Lazovic that he was not a member of a criminal organization.

Last night, Katnic was supposed to face Milan Knezevic at RTCG, but he later canceled his participation on the show because he was the prosecutor in the trial against Knezevic.

The Democrats got involved in the whole story, claiming that they were followed by the participants in this affair, and repeated the questions they asked Abazovic in September, in which they specifically asked him about Ljubo Milovic, among other things. All the questions that the Democrats asked Abazovic then and now speak about it as if they knew about the documentation that Europol submitted to the Montenegrin prosecutor’s office. The question is how.

Particularly interesting is the question of whether the Prime Minister had an encrypted phone, which the Democrats asked, probably thinking that Abazovic used the SKY ECC application.

Priests also defended Knezevic

After the SNP and the Prime Minister, the archpriest and editor of Radio Svetigora, Nikola Pejovic, also defended Petar Knezevic. He said that the Assistant Commander of the Anti-Terrorist Unit (PTJ), Petar Knezevic, and his colleagues deserve all the respect because, as he said, they have preserved peace and the Constitutional Order, and thus Montenegro.

He stated that if there had been no enthronement in Cetinje, instead of the Constitution and laws, Montenegro would be ruled by violence, disorder and chaos that would spread from Cetinje throughout Montenegro.

That’s it for today. See you tomorrow at the same time, in the same place.

Kind regards,
