The Government is going to waive the fee for renewable energy resources on the electricity bills which, in that case, is going to be by 1,5 to 5% smaller, said the PM, Duško Marković, answering the question of Raško Konjević, SDP member.

The PM explained that this fee will be paid by the Government from the funds raised from the pollutants, carbon dioxide emitters, and through excise on coal.

“That item accounts for 5% of the bills of consumers who spend €30 per month, or around 1,5% of the bills of consumers who spend up to €100. Bills will, therefore, be reduced by 1,5 or 5%. I believe this is a very responsible approach. Together with the tariff models proposed by the Electric Power Company of Montenegro, cumulative effect is going to be 2,5 – 5% reduction in the price”, said the PM.

Mr Konjević wanted to know if the Government will give up on the increase in electricity bills planned for the 1st May.

“That decision is essentially the decision of the Government as major owner of the Electric Power Company and the Government may give up on it if it wants the improvement of the citizens’ standards”.
