Tuzi municipal assembly elections to be scheduled by 1 september

The President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanović, should schedule elections for Tuzi municipal assembly until 1 September, based on the amendments to the Law on territorial organization. 

The DPS main committee member and Tuzi parliament member, Nikola Gegaj, told Pobjeda daily that a deadline for scheduling elections is within 90 days from the date the Law entered into force. 

Gegaj announced the organizational committee is to be established this month, with the task to design conditions so that the new municiplity may become fully operational. 

He emphasized that the DPS one again “proved to be a serious party strongly committed to fulfilling given promises.”

“The new municipality will certainly accelerate the economic and overall growth in this area, and strenghten the citizens’ rights, as they will be able to excercise their rights faster and in a more efficient manner,” added Gegaj. 

Amendments to the Law on territorial organization which stipulate that Tuzi should be an independent municipality, came into effect on 1 September.
