UK Ambassador to Montenegro for CdM: I’ll receive a Covid-19 vaccine

The UK Ambassador to Montenegro, Ms Karen Maddocks, tells CdM that she plans to get vaccinated once a Covid-19 vaccine is available, that is, approved in line with standards of the World Health Organization, WHO.

“I firmly believe in the power of science that improves people’s quality of life, and vaccines represent a good example of it. As a diplomat, I often travel, so my family and I have been receiving vaccines for years to ensure that we become immune to various diseases in different parts of the world. However, vaccines don’t only protect you as an individual from contracting a disease, but save lives in a much broader sense,” Ms Maddocks says.

The Ambassador also adds that vaccines can stop the transmission of a disease and prevent people from infecting others who are more susceptible, including those who cannot be vaccinated due to serious health conditions.

“It’s why I get a flu shot every year,” emphasizes Ambassador Maddocks in a statement for CdM.

This is, according to her, especially important when it comes to Covid-19.

The British government, she adds, is firmly convinced of the value of safe and effective vaccines to end this pandemic, so it gave 548 million pounds in aid for the COVAX mechanism, to ensure that there is equal access to vaccines globally.

Recall, the CdM portal has recently initiated discussion over this important topic and asked public figures in Montenegro whether they’d get vaccinated against Covid-19. Almost all answered unanimously – they would.
