Ukrainians pay the cheapest electricity

Households in Ukraine pay the cheapest kilo watts in Europe, only 4,4 cents per kWh, whereas price of electricity is the highest in Germany, as much as 30,88 cents per kWh, according to the latest EUROSTAT data.

According to the same data, price of kWh of electricity in Montenegro amounts to 10,3 cents and is half the EU average.

As far as countries of the former Yugoslavia are concerned, households in Slovenia pay the most expensive electricity (16,34 cents per kWh). Electricity is the cheapest in Kosovo.

In Serbia, price of electricity amounts to only 7 cents, whereas in Croatia one kWh costs 13,2 cents.

REGION

Good connoisseurs of opportunities on energy market see cheaper electricity in Kosovo and Serbia as way of conducting social policy through prices of kilo watts.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is the greatest exporter of electricity in the region and is making ambitious plans to build new thermal sources.

THE CHEAPEST ELECTRICITY

Owing to “Kozloduj” nuclear plant, Bulgarian households pay the cheapest electricity in the EU, only 9,99 center per kWh.

“Krško” nuclear plant, the electricity production of which is shared by Croatia and Slovenia, didn’t have any impact on the more affordable price of electricity in these two states.

Slovenia has surprisingly higher electricity price than Iceland.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE ELECTRICITY

Households in Germany and Denmark pay the most expensive electricity price, 30,88 cents per kWh AND 29,84 cents respectively.

Due to transferring to “green energy”, Germans and Danish pay the electricity through the nose.

ELECTRICITY AND CORONAVIRUS

During the coronavirus crisis, electricity prices recorded a sharp fall at the end of March and beginning of April, and then gradually started to recover.

At certain moment, prices were at historical minimum. However, general impression is that things are starting to go back into normal again.

As far as MNE is concerned, major investments in energy sector are expected this year and in the forthcoming years: implementation of Briska gora and Gvozd wind farms project, as well as Komarnica hydro power plant.
