Montenegrin banking system is characterized by positive liquidity, solvency and profitability parameters, said Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, Mr Radoje Žugić in the meeting with CEOs of banks which operate in Montenegro.

“With the record assets level, totaling €4,5 billion, we are particularly proud of the achieved capital increase contributing directly to health and resistance of banking sector”, said Mr Žugić.

Loans and interest rates of poor quality are on downward trend. At the end of August profit amounted to €46 million.

They discussed the implementation of asset quality review. Banks welcomed the pro-activity of the Central Bank.

Participants agreed that AQR implementation would contribute to more adequate value of collateral in the asset qualification procedure and choosing reservations for potential losses in banks.

Considering that this project is very demanding from financial and professional aspect, a very tight cooperation and coordination between banks and the Central Bank of Montenegro has been agreed.
