The Government of Serbia has decided to withdraw its decision on expelling the Montenegrin Ambassador to Serbia, Mr Tarzan Milošević, the Serbian media reported.

President of Serbia, Mr Aleksandar Vučić, met earlier tonight with Prime Minister, Ms Ana Brnabić, and the Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Nikola Selaković, to discuss the relations between the two countries.

“The President invited me and Minister Selaković to consult over this decision of the Government. He understands and supports the decision, as we reacted in line with the Vienna Convention, completely normally and naturally,” she stated.

Serbia will unilaterally withdraw the earlier decision, they concluded.

“Conventions are important, and life even more. It’s time to cherish friendly relations with Montenegro. We have decided to withdraw the decision to expel the Ambassador of Montenegro,” said PM Brnabić.

She quoted the disputed statement of Ambassador Vladimir Božović and stated that the Government of Serbia agreed with his statement, adding that it was by no means a reason for such a decision of Podgorica.

“The entire Serbia agrees with his statement. I assume that half of Montenegro agrees with it as well. It can in no way be a reason for the ambassador of a country, in which he calls for friendship and reconciliation, to be expelled from it,” Serbia’s PM told, adding that it wasn’t a reason for declaring an ambassador persona non grata in a country.
