Measles vaccination saves children’s lives

Parents who refuse to have their children vaccinated with the MMR jab could have their children facing serious complications if infected with morbillivirus. Children should get two doses of MMR vaccine to protect against measles. Epidemiologists recommend parents not to give up the MMR vaccine, as it’s very safe and effective at preventing this disease.

“Measles is one of the most dangerous viral infections. Measles is very contagious and is spread by droplets from coughing and sneezing. It can be spread by being in the same room as someone infected with it. Children of mothers vaccinated against measles are protected from this disease (for a short period of time: in the first half of infant’s life),” said dr Marija Kozomara, in an interview with Dan.

As for the recovery period, an infected child should drink as much as possible to prevent lack of fluid in the body (teas, water, and syrup to reduce a fever and relieve pain in muscles).
