President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, met with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, earlier today in Brussels, telling that Montenegro mustn’t squander the chance to become a full EU member state soon, which is its top foreign policy priority, by taking narrowly party-actions.

According to President Milatovic’s office, he reiterated his commitment to the European agenda so that Montenegro would become the 28th EU member state, adding that he devoted his one-year term of office to the realization of this state interest that would lead to prosperity for all Montenegro citizens.

“In that sense, Milatovic thanked both the European Council and the European Commission for political and expert support over the past period, particularly in terms of accelerating reforms, holding the latest Intergovernmental conference and receiving IBAR,” it was said in a statement.

President Milatovic went to Brussels after the President of the European Council had postponed the official visit to Montenegro where, apart from Mr Milatovic, he was supposed to meet with the Prime Minister and deliver a speech in the Parliament of Montenegro.
