National Institute of Children Diseases in Podgorica records a spike in the number of child Covid-19 cases who need treatment in a hospital, the head of this institution, Velibor Majic, told in an interview for Dnevne Novine daily.

Mr Majic also noted that since the start of the pandemic in March last year, a total of 42 children and 20 companions have been treated in the institute, whereas the numbers in this year are significantly higher.

According to him, two children are being treated in the hospital right now.

On the recommendations for Covid vaccination of children in Montenegro, Mr Majic says that he’d rather follow the recommendations of the World Health Organisation, WHO, and the Public Health Institute of Montenegro, IJZCG.

“In the light of the latest events, children aged 12 to 16 should get a Covid jab.”
