Procedure for .ME domain starts from very beginning

Apelacioni sud

The panel of judges of the Appellate Court, Mirjana Vlahovic, Mirjana Popovic and Danijela Vukcevic, have accepted the appeal of the still current agent for the registration of the .ME domain, the company Domen, and annulled the first-instance verdict rejecting the lawsuit against the state.

Thus, the claim to establish that the contract the company concluded with the state in 2008 was automatically extended and that it will be in force until March 2033, will be discussed again before the Commercial Court.

Judge Natasa Boskovic initially indicated in the first-instance verdict that the provisions of the contract signed by Domen and the state in the part regulating the manner of extending the contract were null and void. Her decision, which rejected the request for a temporary measure that would prohibit the state from choosing a new agent for the .ME domain, was previously confirmed by the panel of judges of the Commercial Court and was not considered by the Appellate Court. The position of the panel was that the ban would encroach on the activity of electronic communications and management of the national internet domain, which is of public interest.
