RTCG overstaffed – 150 more workers than needed

Ivan Jovetić, the president of the RTCG Council, told Dan, a daily, that the public broadcaster RTCG currently has 150-200 more employees than needed so the plan is to develop a downsizing plan and provide funds for severance pays.

He said: “We still do not have this plan, but we are definitely planning the downsizing. Some employees want to quit their jobs voluntarily, and only this year 7 employees left and got a severance pay. The RTCG Council will require development of the optimization plan.”

He also mentioned acting general director Božidar Šundić and his negotiations with the government, in order to get funds for paying severance packages.

“The RTCG currently lacks funds for paying severance packages,” said Jovetić, adding that the public broadcaster has 717 workers with indefinite employment and 54 of them hired for a definite time period.

“Based on the estimations of European and national experts, the optimal number of employees in the public broadcaster would be 600,” underlined Jovetić.
